The Asian Cricket Council is considering moving games in the Super Four round of the ongoing Asia Cup away from Colombo as wet weather looms over the Sri Lankan capital . On Saturday the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan was abandoned after just one innings of play as rain played spoilsport in the Group A contest between the heavyweights in Pallekele .
The Indian Express reported that teams had been apprised of the situation in Sri Lankas capital . Dambulla and Pallekara have emerged as the frontrunners to host the tournament’s Super Four stage . The ACC is likely to take a final call on the venue over the next hours .
The tournament is being held under a hybrid model after the Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI refused last year to tour Pakistan to play the tournament . It is understood India have not been satisfied with hotel and accommodation facilities there while SLC officials claim there is work ongoing on the stadium floodlights are being looked at as alternate options .
The ICC is expected to make a final decision on the location of the venue in the next few days . India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the tournament in Pakistan and Sri Sri Lanka is due to finish in the tournament on September 28 . The final is set to be played on September 29 .
The last of the tournament will be played in the United States on September 30. The final will take place on September 18. The tournament to be held on September 26. The last to be announced on September 27. The first of the last of this month’s final to be decided on September 17.
