Leaders of the BRICS emerging economies meet in Johannesburg this week looking to widen the blocs influence and push for a shift in global geopolitics . The traditional global governing system has become dysfunctional deficient and missing in action Chen Xiaodong the Chinese ambassador to Pretoria said at a briefing adding that BRICS are increasingly becoming a staunch force in defending international justice .
There is growing interest in the bloc as at least countries have expressed interest in joining and of those have formally submitted applications to become BRICS members . The meeting is scheduled to take place on August 28, 2014 . The summit will be held in South Africa, August 29, 2014. It is also scheduled to be attended by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other world leaders from Russia and other leaders from South Africa.
