Islamabad High Court will take up appeal filed by Imran Khan against his conviction and sentence in the Toshakhana case on August next week . A division bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri to take up the hearing .
On August a trial court in Islamabad found the PTI chief guilty of corrupt practices and sentenced him to three years in prison in the case . The verdict means that he also stood disqualified Imran from contesting general elections . The case alleged that Imran had deliberately concealed details of the gifts he retained from the Toshaskhana a repository where presents handed to government officials from foreign officials are kept during his time as the prime minister .
Imran has faced a number of legal issues over his retention of gifts. The issue also led to his disqualification by the ECP. The case was also led by his disqualifying by the IHC. The verdict was subsequently challenged in the IHS. The IHC gave a short breather to Imran asking the judge to reexamine the circumstances of the case.
However at the previous hearing Justice Faroq made it clear that he would decide on the petition. He had warned the defence counsel to conclude the arguments or else the court would reserve an order to decide on an order. The trial court had ruled that Imrans legal team failed to prove the relevance of his witnesses.
