In the Five-a-Side Asia Cup hockey tournament held in Salalah, Oman, on Wednesday, Pakistan secured a 3-1 victory over India, with Arshad Liaquat contributing a pair of goals. The previous day, Captain Abdul Wahid had an outstanding performance, scoring eight goals in a convincing win over Japan.

For the national team, Arshad and Mohammad Abdullah both scored three goals each. Additionally, Abdul Rahman scored two goals, while Ihtesham Aslam and Zakriya each contributed one.In recognition of their victory against India, the Pakistan Hockey Federation announced a special prize for each player.

This win, featuring braces from Arshad Liaquat and Zikraya Hayat, as well as goals from Abdul Rahman, marked Pakistan’s first triumph in the tournament after five days of competition, which included a win against Bangladesh.The tournament is currently in its initial round of matches in Oman and is scheduled to continue in the UAE.

The final round of matches is set to take place from September 8th to 11th and 16th. Pakistan is scheduled to compete against teams from Abu Dhabi, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia. Pakistan has won three of its last four matches, facing Australia consecutively, followed by Iran.

Australia has won two of its last three matches, marking their debut in this competition. Moreover, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Iran have also had recent victories in the tournament.
