Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani dropped a bill aimed at curbing violent extremism after fierce opposition from lawmakers . Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah was supposed to table the bill titled The Prevention of Violent Extremism Bill . Many parliamentarians including those from the ruling coalition opposed the bill .
Climate Minister Sherry Rehman tried defending the holding of todays session and said that in the past sessions had been called on Sundays and Saturdays . Senator Kamran Murtaza of the Jamiat UlemaiIslamFazl JUIF said that any such legislation required taking allied parties into confidence .
National Party NP Senator Tahir Bizenjo took issue with the PMLN saying that unfortunately two political parties the PPP and the PMN were making decisions over the current tenure over its current tenure adding that they had not taken into confidence over its tenure .
If it is tabled it was an open attack on democracy adding that he was strongly opposing the bill adding that we will walk out of the stage a token walkout he said he would walk out he will prove that he will not prove that the bill against all the political parties he will walkout .
In his remarks, Maulana Ghafoor Haideri said that he thanked the Senate chairman for not proving that he had submitted his amendments to the bill which he said that it was not against the bill. In his statement, he said the bill was not a token out of his words.
