Researchers at Texasbased Halcyon said Cloudzy had been leasing server space and reselling it to no fewer than different statesponsored hacking groups purportedly from Pakistan China Russia Iran North Korea India and Vietnam . Cloudzy Chief Executive Officer Hannan Nozari disputed Halcyons assessment saying that his firm couldnt be held responsible for its clients of which he estimated only two per cent were malicious .
Digital defenders say the case is an example of how hackers and ransomware gangs use small firms operating at the fringes of cyberspace to enable big hacks . The cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike which wasnt involved in the research said that it hadnt seen Cloudzy using Cloudzy.
But it had seen other cybercriminal activity connected to it. Cloudzy is registered under its previous name RouterHosting in Cyprus and the US state of Wyoming according to corporate records reviewed by Reuters and confirmed by Nozaris . The firm needs a US domicile to be able to register internet protocol addresses in America to register online addresses in the US.
The firm did not respond to a follow-up email to comment on the allegations against CloudPeak Law a law firm based in Sheridan, Sheridan was aware of the allegations . The company did not comment on whether it had any knowledge of the accusations against its client or whether it was CloudPeaks Law .
Nozar said the firm had any information about the allegations. Nozara said the company had any previous knowledge of CloudPeach Law. The company had no knowledge of any of the alleged allegations. It did not reply to a response to any of its client. It declined to respond to an immediate response to a comment.
It has declined to comment to any further requests for comment.
