Election delay ‘certain’ as CCI ratifies latest census . Election delay

Council of Common Interests CCI approved the results of the digital census on Saturday . Some of the ruling allies including the Pakistan Peoples Party PPP earlier opposed holding the next general elections under the fresh census . Law minister claims constitutional amendment not required for fresh delimitation which may take months has now become compulsory .

Balochistan National PartyMengal BNPM did not attend the CCI meeting saying it rejected the councils decision and would make its future course of action public on Sunday . The PPP which earlier raised objections to the holding of elections under census did not react to the approval of the census by the council .

PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira congratulated the whole nation on the passage of the new census . Meanwhile MQMP leaders termed the approval as their partys success and termed the decision as their party’s success in the census as their success . The meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and all ruling allies have already agreed to dissolve assemblies on August three days before the expiry of the governments term after which the Constitution requires holding an election in days .

The constitution requires holding elections in days after the expiring of the term after the expiration of the . term after . which the constitution requires an election after the . expiration of an extended term after it is expired . The ECP has agreed to hold an election on August 3, but the law minister said the ECP will not have an extended period of the expiracy of the parliament.

It is not necessarily necessary to hold elections in such circumstances. It would not necessarily require an election to be held in days.
