Punjab home dept told to decide plea against detention of Parvez Elahi . Punjab

Lahore High Court on Friday directed the additional chief secretary for home to decide an application challenging the detention of former chief minister Parvez Elahi . A counsel for the petitioner Qaisera Elahi argued that the government issued the detention order of Mr Elahi with mala fide intention only to frustrate his release after he secured bail in all the cases registered against him .

Separately the wife of Elahi filed a petition against the authorities for not allowing her and other family members to visit the PTI leader in the jail . An antiterrorism court denied the police further physical remand of the husband of a PTI social media activist and five other workers sending them to jail on judicial remand in the Jinnah House attack case .

The judge also directed the IO to submit challan against the suspects by the next hearing . The court extended the judicial remands of PTIPunjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid until August . The case of Dr Rashid was a case of violence on Sherpao Bridge during the May riots involving PTI leaders and workers was adjourned until August 31 at a hearing on July 31 at the end of this hearing .
