Senate passes bill for setting up financial crimes authority . Financial crimes authority will be set up

The upper house of Parliament on Friday passed a bill to set up a new authority to counter money laundering and terror financing . The bill titled National AntiMoney Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism Authority Bill was tabled in the Senate by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar .

According to the draft the proposed authority will be headed by a chairman and will consist of the federal secretaries for finance foreign affairs and interior . The authority set up to improve coordination on counterterrorism efforts remained dormant for years as it could not convene its meetings because of the nonavailability of members .

Most of these officials were also part of Nacta formed in . The new legislation can convene meetings on the requisition of the chairman or half of its members . It was passed with nine opposing Senators voting in its favour and nine opposing it . The Senate also approved the Import Control Amendment Act of the Export Act of 2007 and the Export Control of Pakistan was also approved by the Senate .

The Export Control Act of 2008 was passed by the Senators on Friday . The Import Control of 2007 was approved by Senator Yousaf Raza Gilani and Senator Murtaza Tahir Bizenjo Bizenjar . Senator Gilani said that this was an issue which concerned the whole country terming it to be important and that it was passed in a vote by the Senator .

The import Control of the Act of 2006 was approved in 2007. The Import Act of 2009 was passed . The Bill of 2007 by Senator Gul Gul Gul Muhammad Khan. The bill was approved on September 28. The Bill was introduced by Senator Bizenbar. The Act of 2003 was introduced on September 29.
