Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said elections would be held on the basis of the digital census results . Council of Common Interest CCI the body that approves census results was expected to hold a meeting of the CCI as soon as they were finalised . The PM also said the census results would be referred to the council of common interest .
The decision has prompted a terse response from the Muttahida Qaumi MovementPakistan MQMP one of the ruling allies in the Centre that maintains Karachis population has been undercounted in the new census . The prime minister also said if his party would win the upcoming elections Nawaz would assume the role of the countrys chief executive for the fourth time .
